What happens if I need to cancel a booking?

The deposit is retained where the cancellation notice is less than 14 days unless the booking is resold. In that instance a full refund is given.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

It is rare for courses to be cancelled due to bad weather. As the courses are usually run in the Solent there is usually somewhere sheltered enough to cover all aspects of the syllabus.

Offshore experiences, mileage builders etc may have a change in destination due to bad weather. For example, a cross-channel trip to Cherbourg could be redirected to Weymouth.

What happens if I have to pull out of a course half way through?

When this happens it is usually no fault of the customer. We would not want to add to what may already be a worrying situation and will endeavour to arrange an alternative date for you to complete your course.

There is no guarantee this is possible and no additional charge is made.

What happens if I am really sea sick?

It is rare for students within the Solent to become sea sick. It is common for students to experience sea sickness on offshore passages.

Your instructor will try and adapt the course by changing the location of exercises should sea sickness become a problem.

The instructor will have a good idea from the current weather forecast whether it is approriate or not to go offshore given the experience of the crew.

The decision to go offshore will rest with the Instructor.

Some students start taking sea sickness tablets the night before a course.

What meals are provided ?

Typically the meals provided include breakfast, lunch, snacks and most evening meals.

It is usual on a five day course to have two evening meals ashore at the students expense but this is not a requirement.

Where the course starts on a Friday evening an evening meal is not provided.

For offshore experiences starting on a Friday evening (i.e. cross-channel experience) a light meal will be provided.

We attempt to provide a high quality range of foods but you must let us know in advance if you have special dietary needs or certain dislikes.

What other costs can I expect to pay?

The fee paid includes instruction, yacht, diesel, gas, marina fees at Premier Marinas, use of waterproofs, meals/refreshments on board.

It excludes meals/refreshments ashore and marina/anchoring charges away from Premier Marinas.

Typically, marina/anchoring fees split between 4 students would equate to approximately £30 each.

This varies as some courses prefer to be independent of marinas whilst others need their showers in the mornings!

You will not be charged extra for loss of damage to the boat or items on board unless you were reckless in your actions.

Most common losses include fenders not properly tied, winch handles overboard and cups inadequately stowed.
